Grand Velas Riviera Maya Commemorates French Revolution with Gastronomic Festival
Visiting Chef Maitre Cuisinier de France Jacques Chretien Creates Innovative French Haute Cuisine through July 30th

From now through July 30th, a festival honoring the anniversary of the French Revolution is being held at AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Maya. The resort's gourmet restaurant Piaf is showcasing the talents of Maitre Cuisinier de France Jacques Chretien, one of the five chefs in Mexico with the title, a distinction only bestowed on the most elite chefs in the world. Chef and Owner of French Riviera Restaurant in Los Cabos, Mexico, Chretien, who has also collaborated with such famed restaurants as La Tour d'Argent in Paris, Chez Bruneau in Brussels and Maxim's in Mexico, is a proponent of the classic and elegant traditional French cuisine that leaves nothing to chance. Together with the Executive Chef of Piaf, Michel Mustiere, they are offering up a tasting menu and full menu with various creations of French haute cuisine in honor of the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille.
The tasting menu includes such delights as Duck Foie Gras and Smoked Eel Terrine; Escargot Ravioli with Asparagus and Morel Risotto topped with Garlic Foam; Braised Ox Tail Parmentier with Truffle Oil Potato Purée and a Port Reduction, and Vanilla Mille-Feuille with Raspberry Coulis. The full menu offers Poached Lobster in Truffle Cream with Vegetable Macedonia; Wrapped Prawns, Creamy Cauliflower Rice and a Clam and Lime Tea Emulsion; and Grand Marnier Soufflé.
The full menu and tasting menu without wine pairing is available to all resort guests at no additional charge as part of the all-inclusive rate. Piaf is a part of the international culinary tour offered at Grand Velas Riviera Maya. Designed to emanate the passion of its namesake chanteuse, Piaf is the product of Executive Chef Mustiere's culinary vision of French classicism. Piaf is open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
