New Chamoy Tastings and Pairings Across Velas Resorts Properties

From Frozen Beverages to Hands-On Tastings, Three Properties Bring A Beloved Mexican Flavor to Life This Season

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (September 9, 2026) - Furthering its commitment to Mexican culinary traditions, Velas Resorts in Mexico celebrates one of Mexico's most iconic flavors with a series of new chamoy-influenced experiences across its portfolio. Chamoy traces its roots to Mexican street food culture, where the sweet, tangy, and spiced condiment has long been used to enhance fresh fruit, snacks, and beverages. A defining flavor in Mexican culinary traditions still today, the condiment is woven into new activities at Grand Velas Riviera Maya, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, and Mar del Cabo by Velas Resorts that blend culture, creativity, and culinary exploration.

Mar del Cabo by Velas Resorts
Located in Los Cabos, Mar del Cabo offers a chef-guided, showcooking-style workshop, where guests take part in preparing an artisanal chamoy. Centered around a single communal table, that also elicits a sense of community among guests, traditional in Mexican culture, the experience begins with an individual tasting tray featuring four chamoy varieties: Classic Tamarind, Mango-Habanero, Black Pasilla Chili, and Pitahaya (Dragon Fruit). The tray is accompanied by bites like seasonal mango and jicama, shrimp skewers, and seared sea scallops with a toasted coconut crust, along with signature drinks crafted to highlight the sweet, sour, salty, and spicy profiles of each chamoy. The beverage selection features the tequila-based "Pitahaya Paloma," the smoky mezcal-based "Smoke & Chile," and a local Baja Brewing Lager craft beer. The chef walks guests through the local ingredients and the preparation process, covering base preparation, pulp extraction, seasoning and balance, and the final blend. Once complete, each guest bottles their own portion of chamoy and receives the recipe to take home. The experience has limited capacity, accommodating a minimum of two and a maximum of six guests, and requires advance booking of at least 72 hours. The price is $117 USD per person.

Grand Velas Riviera Maya
Grand Velas Riviera Maya presents the Chamoy Collection, a limited-edition trio of frozen beverages at AMAT, the property's coffee and snack bar. Available in Mango, Cucumber, and Strawberry, each handcrafted drink combines fresh fruit with lime juice and chamoy, finished with a touch of spice. The beverages are prepared with two ounces of chamoy, one ounce of fresh lime juice, two ounces of fruit purée, and one ounce of sweetener. The Chamoy Collection is included in the all-Inclusive plan for resort guests.

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit
Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit incorporates chamoy into two seasonal poolside activations. The resort's Fruit Cart & Salt Bar, inspired by the fruit carts found in Mexico City's plazas, features local fruit such as mango, watermelon, jicama, and pineapple alongside chamoy, freshly cracked coconuts, a curated selection of salts, including Maldon, Himalayan pink, black volcanic, truffle, and Colima sea salt, harvested by hand by salineros from the Lagoon of Coyutlán. Separately, the resort offers a reimagined Chamoyada, a non-alcoholic frozen beverage blending fresh local fruit in flavors such as mango, strawberry, and watermelon with chamoy, served poolside. Both activations are included in the All-Inclusive plan.
