New Mexican Beading Workshop Offers Unique Look at Mayan Totems At Grand Velas Riviera Maya in Mexico
Riviera Maya, Mexico (December 7, 2020) - Beginning December 20th, the AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Maya will offer a new Mexican Beading Workshop for families. The activity explores the traditional beading made famous by the Huichol natives of the Pacific Coast of Mexico. In the activity, participants first select from animals or totem symbols of the local indigenous Mayan people. Designs are pre-drawn on wood boxes, lightly covered in a thin layer of beeswax. The folk art is completed by touching a toothpick on the wax and then colored beads one by one to fill in the picture. A magnet is then glued to the back of the box so that guests can take their work and display it at home to remember their fond memories. Included in the nightly rate, the Mexican Beading Workshop for kids and adults will be offered twice a week.
Resort nightly rates start at $478 USD. Rates are per person based on double occupancy and include luxury suite accommodations, à la carte gourmet meals at a variety of specialty restaurants, premium branded beverages, 24-hour in-suite service, fitness center, taxes, gratuity and more.
