We just celebrated our wedding at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya on March 11, 2011 and we could not be happier. Thanks to the help of Pamela Zerecero Catzalco (our wedding coordinator) it was an absolutely amazing day and a time we will never forget. Since the very moment we & our guests arrived (21 group total) we were blown away not only by the property as the decor and architecture is absolutely breathtaking but also by the exceptional level of service we received from EVERYONE from the moment we arrived. We could not have chosen a better place - the food (presentation and taste), the decor, the service, the suites, amenities - we could not have imagined a better place and cannot wait to return. From the moment we checked in to our departure we were absolutely blown away. I do not know how to begin to thank Pamela - our wedding day was what we envisioned and so much more. I cannot recommend Grand Velas enough. My visit was in February for 6 days and every day was spectacular. Swim up bars, 24 hr room service, and the staff was incredible. The only negative I have is that the staff was so accomodating that I felt uncomfortable asking because I knew I'd get it! You have to watch yourself or you'll get spoiled. Really. The staff is that good. Plus they knew my name after 1 day! The beach, the pool, Karaoke bar, 6 restaurants, shopping in Playa, touring Chichen Itza. Man this was the life. If you ever leave the resort, you should go to X-plor park for ziplines, 4wheeling and cave swimming.Yes, the food was super elaborate at times but it just added to the fun nature of the visit. plus, since it's all nclusive, you should try everything. You'll find something new to love. And if the food is too elaborate you can go to Azul most times for the buffet, or try the room service. I wanted to every night but I was so tired I only got to call once.! 5 stars

My family vacationed at the Grand Velas 3/24-3/31/2012. The place is beautiful. We stayed on the ocean side vs jungle. Definitely go for the ocean, unless you want quiet jungle and if you are traveling with a group, be sure to all stay in one or the other. A bus shuttles you back and forth. The rooms are beautiful with a mini bar stocked with wine, beer, pop, nuts and candy. Yum! The restaurants were great. We dined at all of them and liked all of them, even the Italian that some people dog. They each have their own unique dining experience. It was my birthday while we were there and they had a special cake, then cake and balloons in the room when we got back from dinner. Our personal butler, Brenda Mejia took great care of us and golfing needs at the Mayakoba. If you are a golfer, try it, but bring plenty of balls! It is a great course. The service at the beach and pool bars was exceptional, as was the restaurant service. I took the Zumba classes. Franklin was the best instructor I have ever taken a class from. It is worth getting up for! The beaches are great and you can walk forever. Very well maintained at the Velas. Loved everything and would definitely go back. Carol-Denver
