We took this trip ...

We took this trip with our 3 kids who were 9, 6 and 3 at the time of travel. What an amazingly beautiful resort. From the moment you step foot at the resort you are greeted with a cooling towel (temps were 103-108 the week we were there), refreshments for adults, and refreshments for the kids. You have your personal concierge for your entire stay. We had the pleasure of having Santos and Enrique who were an absolute joy. They truly provided a 5 star service. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive and joyful. Anytime you are walking by, the staff members stop and step aside to greet you as you walk by. It’s those little details that you notice and really made your stay that much more pleasant. They have a kids club for kids 4-12 and one for teens. My kids LOVED it and wanted to go daily. The teachers were so sweet. We also went to the teen one a couple times (you can go as a family before. Ight time). We went during FIFA World Cup so a lot of activities were soccer based, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We spent 6 hours at the pool every single day. The pools are massive and they never felt crowded. You didn’t have to wake up super early to go save a chair. They had plenty. The pool staff was attentive and always coming to check if you needed more drinks or food. The restaurants were beyond amazing! There are 8 on site and we went to 5 of them. The other 3 had age restrictions so we couldn’t go. You are provided a bill and tip is included when you stay at this resort, however, you will want to tip additional because of the wonderful service you receive. Tips can be in cash or just charged to your room. You will see Coatis, Iguanas, Raccoons and if you’re lucky, spider monkeys on the resort! It’s so cool. My children who are animal lovers were in heaven seeing these daily!! Biggest downside which is completely out of the resorts control, was the seaweed on the beach. Apparently this is one of the worst seasons of seaweed, and it shows. We couldn’t go to the beach that week because of this. The resort did have a ton of workers daily trying to remove it, but it just was an uphill battle for them. My kids were disappointed not being able to go to the beach and swim, but it was just an unfortunate time. Overall, it was such a fun and beautiful vacation for me and my family! We definitely miss Grand Velas and look forward to returning soon.

This resort is really ...

This resort is really amazing. From the food to the rooms and pools this resort delivers an awesome experience. We were there just a couple of weeks ago and we stayed in the Ambassador class section. Upon arrival we were handed cold towels and, after checking in, were taken to our rooms. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are no exception. It feels pretty luxurious. There is a minibar that is restocked daily and everything in it is included. We ordered room service a few times also and the food was so good. The beds are really comfortable and large also. There is an outdoor balcony area that is very large too. Just be aware that some bugs like mosquitoes or spiders (we even had one cockroach in our room) may enter the room when the doors are opened. The pool area was a highlight for me. The water is just the right temperature, there are many seats, and there is a delicious poolside menu to order off of for lunch. There are two pools in the Ambassador class section. A fun thing that happened was that they did a water aerobics class type thing about every day. Something that I would not really recommend is swimming at the beach. There is just too much seaweed in the water, causing it to become dirty. The food at this Grand Velas is amazing. The food was super high quality and tasted great. The food I tried from room service, pool service, and the restaurants was all amazing. The steak wrap and the cheeseburger from the poolside menu were so delicious. My favorite restaurant may have been Piaf; I really enjoyed the food here and it was just a great experience overall. Something special about this resort is that included in the price you get to dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant, Cocina de Autor. That restaurant was also amazing. Overall, the food was a highlight for me and just elevated the whole experience. This resort offers amenities like a gym, kids club, and a concierge employee on your room floor. I went to the gym a couple of times and it was really nice even though the one in our section may not have been the largest. There are cold towels, dry towels, water, drinks like Powerade, nuts to eat, and nice equipment. I used the treadmill and it was just what I needed. The kids club is a nice thing also since younger kids aren’t allowed at all the restaurants. The concierge employee is there to help you with booking things or assisting you with something you may need. Overall, Grand Velas Riviera Maya is definitely a five star resort. The rooms, food, atmosphere, service, and amenities are things that make a hotel experience amazing, and Grand Velas Riviera Maya excels in those categories. If you want an amazing all inclusive experience this resort will likely deliver.
